SESC's Rachel Grider led a session with 7th and 8th graders at Bell County's Gifted & Talented STEAM Day. Using their knowledge of how compression and tension affect the stability of a structure, students worked collaboratively to design and build a tower. Afterwards, students used number sense to correlate the strength of their tower to the amount of weight it held. A friendly competition was held to determine which group's tower had the highest load to weight ratio. #sesccoop #servingyou

Join us at SESC for practical de-escalation tips for the classroom. We will begin with prevention and proactive strategies any teacher can put into their daily practices. We will then go through each stage of the escalation cycle and will stop to discuss strategies which can be used in the classroom to break the escalation cycle. This training will be very interactive; teachers will leave with strategies they can immediately take back and implement in their classrooms.
