Moving the Herd Roughly West🌵 🏜️

Last week, teachers of Corbin Independent Schools, with the support of SESC, came together to explore resources and tools to help their teams bring high quality assessments into their classrooms this upcoming school year. Corbin's theme for 25-26 is about grit, growth, and keeping the herd moving roughly west. 🤠

Join SESC in partnership with KDE for this 4 part learning series on Student Success. This 4 part series is designed to support districts across the state in advancing student success. Sessions are open to all SESC Districts, regardless of where you are in the process of building a local accountability system. The series is open to districts that still need to create a portrait of a learner, as well as districts that are in the implementation phase. Sessions are designed as a cohort experience, with the expectation that participating districts will commit to all four sessions to build momentum and foster ongoing collaboration. #sesccoop #servingyou REGISTER HERE: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L3ge6vezcrWhWs2gglq13YRP0vLAS8sk9i0qFNyxOEQ/edit?usp=sharing

"🚀 The ACCESS Team at SESC is thrilled to announce that 9 graduate student interns are gearing up to start their field placements in Wayne County, Berea, Garrard County, and Rockcastle County Schools for the 2025-2026 school year! 🎓✨

This invaluable experience will equip them with essential skills to support students' mental health needs and strengthen Mental Health Integration across these school districts. The ACCESS Team is pumped to support both our interns and the school districts as we work together to enhance quality mental health services for students throughout the region.

All interns have completed Graduate Student Orientation and are ready to hit the ground running for a successful school year! 🌟👏 #ACCESSTeam #MentalHealthMatters #SchoolBasedMentalHealth #SESC #GraduateInterns #StrongerTogether"

"🌟 Wayne County Schools have been nothing short of inspiring! We had the privilege of working alongside their passionate educators during MTSS training. Wayne County Leadership has developed an incredible MTSS Implementation Guide, and we spent time training staff on how to use this guide to support their MTSS practices across the district. 📘

Wayne County continues to grow and strengthen their MTSS system by building cascading, collaborative problem-solving teams — starting from the regional level (SESC) to the district leadership, school leadership teams, and now reaching their teachers through MTSS School Implementation Teams.

All educators in Wayne County are now equipped with:
✅ Productive collaborative problem-solving teams
✅ A polished tiered delivery system
✅ Data-based decision-making practices
— ensuring equitable access and opportunity for ALL students!

Wayne County is showing us what it looks like when a district commits to building sustainable systems that support EVERY learner. GO WAYNE COUNTY! 🚀🙌

Educators participating in a professional development event
We all want deep learning in our classrooms—but what’s getting in the way? Educators across Kentucky consistently point to three challenges:
· Students aren’t fully engaged
· Effort is inconsistent
· Learners struggle to take ownership of their progress

For decades, we've turned to new programs and shifting initiatives to address these concerns. But what if the keys to deeper learning have been right in front of us all along—in the Kentucky Adapted Framework for Teaching? Join Rick Fisher, a long-time Kentucky Educator, for an engaging and interactive session where he’ll share practical, proven strategies to support teacher development and growth through Kentucky’s exemplary teaching criteria.

In this session, you will: ✅ Learn how to create a common language for deeper learning to help guide staff development. ✅ Explore how to move from Accomplished to Exemplary using the Kentucky Adapted Framework for Teaching. ✅ Discover a set of simple, ready-to-use tools that make exemplary instruction accessible to every teacher. ✅ See how to ground boxed curriculum and personal lesson designs in the science of deeper learning to strengthen Tier 1 instruction—and beyond. Let’s move past the cycle of new initiatives and focus on what truly works. Register to attend here: bit.ly/3H6x4VT
