The Rise to Proficiency: Councils and Family and Community Partnerships training module assists council members in understanding the difference between engagement and involvement and why increasing parent, family and community engagement in schools is important to student achievement. The module also explores how council members can help engage parents, families and the community through their policies and decision-making processes.

Format: Virtual

Materials: Materials will be the responsibility of the participants. An email with materials and Zoom links will be emailed to participants approx. 2 weeks prior to the session date. This is a virtual training that requires engagement between participants. A computer or a tablet with working video and microphone functions. Participants will be expected to participate in breakout rooms and chat features. The training cannot be done on a cell phone. Working in groups at your school is encouraged. Each SBDM member must register through the SESC Cooperative.
